Civil Law Appeals, Eminent Domain Proceedings, and Default Judgment Relief

A Dallas Law Firm Serving Clients Throughout North Texas

At the Pendery Law Firm, we represent clients throughout North Texas in civil  appeals and eminent domain proceedings and in obtaining relief from default judgments. We have more than 30 years of experience achieving results in complex and challenging cases, simple cases, and unique law-making cases.

Civil Law Appeals

For more than 25 years, Julia Pendery has effectively represented Dallas-area clients in civil appeals. She has extensive experience handling appeals in the state and federal Courts of Appeals and the Texas Supreme Court. She is familiar with the distinct procedural requirements of all appellates courts. She knows the unwritten rules and the personalities and preferences of the different courts of appeals. Julia analyzes the entire record and focuses on the types of errors the appellate court will find reversible.

Success on appeal requires an attorney with a very different skill set from a trial attorney. That is why many trial attorneys hire Julia to represent their clients on appeal or to write amicus curiae briefs in appeals they are handling.

Eminent Domainpicture

The government and other entities it designates have the authority to seize private property to build schools, roads, pipelines and other municipal projects. If you have learned that your land may be taken by an entity with the right of eminent domain, now is the time to learn more about the condemnation process and to begin protecting your rights.

Even though you are dealing with the government, there is no reason to be intimidated. You should not accept the first compensation offer you receive. We can help you greatly increase the amount of money you receive for your property or even negotiate with the condemnor to minimize or avoid the taking of your property.

Default Judgment Relief

If you fail to answer a lawsuit or fail to show up for a trial after you answered the suit, a default judgment can (and usually will) be taken against you. After a short period of time, that judgment becomes final and the judgment holder may begin seizing your assets and placing liens on your property to get the judgment paid.

There are several ways to obtain relief from a default judgment, but they are specialized and depend on meeting certain deadlines and procedures. Julia Pendery has obtained relief from hundreds of default judgments and has written articles and frequently spoken to lawyer groups about the subject. She can help you get a default judgment set aside, whether it was taken yesterday or last year.
